Fees & Expenses Information

You probably wouldn’t buy anything more expensive than chewing gum without an understanding of what it would cost, would you?  You shouldn’t hire your lawyer that way either.  We believe our clients should know exactly how fees will be calculated before any work begins, and to be kept fully informed as matters progress. 

We are willing to tailor your fee arrangement based on your needs and the legal work to be performed.   Knudsen Law Firm bills most clients based on the amount of work we do and the experience and expertise of our lawyers who did that work.  Each of our lawyers has a specified hourly rate that we set based on the individual lawyer’s experience in the practice of law and their special qualifications and training in particular areas. 

We may be willing to bill for some kinds of tasks based on a flat rate.  In that case we agree with you at the outset on what your fee will be, so you have a clear understanding of what your legal expenses will be “up front.”

Other cases may be appropriate for contingent fee arrangements.  In those cases we’ll agree with you in advance that our fee will be a percentage of any recovery we ultimately obtain for you.  In most contingent fee arrangements, no fee will be charged for the work we did if we weren’t successful; you will only be required to repay expenses we’ve incurred on your behalf.
